For two days Confederate general “Stonewall” Jackson’s men, outnumbered two to one, fought Union general Pope at Manassas, Virginia in August 1862. On the afternoon of the 30th, three lines of Northern troops hit Jackson’s line, and as General Longstreet’s men attacked from the west Jackson rallied his troops to break through the Federal lines to rout the enemy forces in the battle that became known as 2nd Manassas.
