A Special Project by David Wright for Wilderness Road State Park.

David Wright was commissioned to paint “Martin’s Station – Refuge in the Wilderness” for historic Martin’s Station at Wilderness Road State Park, Ewing, Virginia. Martin’s Station, an authentic recreation of Joseph Martin’s fort, originally built in 1775, interprets life on the frontier during those turbulent years of the third quarter of the 18th century.

Wright’s painting of Martin’s Station shows the fort as it might have looked at the time of its existence and depicts the Daniel Boone party arriving at Martin’s Station on their way to settle Kentucky in 1775
